Scrolling social media for hours looking at wedding day inspiration can make you wonder what you should do! Which dress is right for me? What games should we play? To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of 6 things that you MUST do on your big day! These elements will liven up your big day. You have to try some or all of these unique ideas (or you’ll regret it)!
If we haven’t met yet, hi! I’m Lindsey Nickel and I’m a local Sonoma and Napa wedding planner and the owner of Lovely Day Events. Since 2010, I have helped stylish, fun-loving couples (and their dogs) plan destination weddings. Our clients want the ceremony to be outside, the food to be outstanding, and the dance parties to be epic. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place, so you might want to learn more about our wedding planning services.
Photo Table Numbers
A creative way to present the bride and groom is through your table number display. Print photos of you and your partner at the age corresponding to the table number and place them on display for guests to enjoy!
Create a Unique Instagram Hashtag
Give your photos a place to live on the internet through a creative hashtag. This hashtag should symbolize you and your partner and give your guests a reason to post all about your big day. For example- if your last name is ‘Young,’ you can do “#foreverYoungs”!
Shoe Game
Playing a game is a quick way to get guests in the party mood after dinner is over, and the shoe game is a perfect choice! For the game, the bride and groom should be seated back to back and hold one of their partners’ shoes and one of their own. Then, have a member of the bridal party read a list of “who” questions about the relationship - (“who was interested first?”) to which the bride and groom hold up the shoe corresponding to who best fits the answer!
Popsicle Sticks for Date Ideas
You want to make your guests feel included not just on your wedding day but for years to follow. To do this, create a “date jar” where guests write down their best date ideas for you and your partner to do together. Leave out empty popsicle sticks for guests to write their ideas and place into the jar. Now, you have created a conversational element for guests and have a ton of ideas to help spice up date night!
Live Wedding Painter
While traditional photos or videography is a great way to capture your big day, a painting is much more memorable. Hiring a painter to seize a view you’d like during the big day will become a wedding keepsake that you will put on display forever.
Pin a Photo
Your wedding day is all about celebrating love with your closest friends and family. The day should include those who have passed. To honor your loved one, place their photo inside an ornamental case (like a locket) and pin it to your dress or jacket.
