Ways To Decorate Wedding Chairs

Guest post by Katie Tejada

Planning a wedding is an exciting time for couples. From menus to music to floral arrangements, there are a lot of details to finalize and keep track of. One of the things to consider is how to decorate your wedding chairs, both for your ceremony and your reception. Here’s a look at six of the top ways you can make your chairs a special part of your wedding decor.

If we haven’t met yet, hi! I’m Lindsey Nickel and I’m a local Sonoma and Napa wedding planner and the owner of Lovely Day Events. Since 2010, I have helped stylish, fun-loving couples (and their dogs) plan destination weddings. Our clients want the ceremony to be outside, the food to be outstanding, and the dance parties to be epic. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place, so you might want to learn more about our wedding planning services.

Wedding Chair Ideas For the Ceremony

Your ceremony space is arguably the most important. It’s where you’re committing to forever with the love of your life, after all! Choose your chair decorations with care, and if you need to, rely on an expert wedding planner for advice.

Decorating Wedding Chairs With Flowers

Flowers are a very traditional and beautiful way to decorate wedding chairs. You can attach a tiny bouquet to each chair that’s framing the aisle or perhaps do every other row to avoid a cluttered look. Using flowers is an easy way to bring your wedding theme and colors into your ceremony for a smooth, put-together aesthetic.

Decorating Wedding Chairs With Cloth

Wedding Ceremony Chair Decorated

If you’re going for a subtle look or want your guests’ attention on other, bigger pieces of decor, you can opt to completely cloak each chair in a simple piece of cloth. You can also tie fabric around the back of each chair in a bow or simply drape it over the top. Whichever way you use cloth will depend on the shape and attributes of your individual chairs.

Decorating Wedding Chairs With Bows

For an even simpler look, tie a bow made of tulle on the knobs at the top of each chair that’s framing the aisle. Choose your primary wedding color or one of your secondary ones to bring your ceremony space together.

Wedding Chair Ideas For the Reception

Your reception might use the same chairs as your ceremony. If this is the case, you only have to worry about decorating one set and can cross that off your to-do list. If your reception is being held at a different location, however, you may need different decorations.

While the above ideas can be used for your reception as well, here are a few other suggestions in case you want to shake things up.

Decorating Wedding Chairs With Tulle

Tulle has been a staple of wedding decorations for many years. In addition to bows, this lightweight, stiff netting can be tied or draped over reception chairs. It looks especially elegant when tied at the back of the chair and holding a small bouquet of flowers.

Decorating Wedding Chairs With a Fabric and Cloth Combo

If you like the look of draping cloth to completely cover each chair, consider tying a ribbon around the back to add a polished touch to your reception. The white cloth will pair with any wedding color, so you have plenty of options from which to choose.

Decorating Wedding Chairs With Lace

This works especially well if you have antique or visually appealing chairs. Lace is very elegant and will show off the natural beauty of your reception chairs. You can find lace in a variety of colors, though plain white will accent your chairs beautifully.

It’s Your WeddingDay

From your chairs to your photos to your wedding gifts, it’s your big day. No matter how you decide to decorate, remember to soak up as many details as you can so you remember your wedding day always.
