3 Reasons to Check Out The Stavrand for Your Wedding
I had the pleasure of having one of the most fantastic and memorable girl’s weekends with three of my wedding vendor besties. We spent two nights at the newly renovated and re-designed boutique hotel, The Stavrand. Let me tell you, I’m already planning my next trip there with CigarHusband. I also think it would be spectacular for a couple looking for a unique and charming wedding venue in Sonoma Valley.
My friends and I had the most memorable and relaxing weekend at The Stavrand. We all work in the wedding industry in wine country and it was a huge treat to be a guest and taken care of for a change. Two of us arrived on Friday and when the others arrived on Saturday morning they said "You look so relaxed!"
If you are looking for a charming and unique place for your wedding in the Russian River area, look no further.
If we haven’t met yet, hi! I’m Lindsey Nickel and I’m a local Sonoma and Napa wedding planner and the owner of Lovely Day Events. My team and I have planned more than 140 destination weddings, so I can tell you firsthand that wine country weddings are something special. My clients want the ceremony to be outside, the food to be outstanding, and the dance parties to be epic. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
3 Reasons to Check out the Stavrand for Your Wedding
1. Walking Distance to Guerneville
Location, location, location. The location of The Stavrand could not be more perfect or idyllic. You are close to the Russian River yet in the Redwood trees. Looking out of my room I felt like I was in Tahoe.
My favorite part about the location was that it was a very short walk to Guerneville. The first night we enjoyed the wine hour at The Stavrand and then walked to town for dinner at Boon (which was delicious). It was so nice not to have to worry about who would drive after a few glasses of wine.
I think that the walkability to Guerneville would be a huge plus for wedding guests. They wouldn’t have to worry about getting lost and could enjoy an extra glass of wine.
2. The Design
If Anthropologie had a boutique hotel it would be The Stavrand. The design is colorful, unique, and tasteful. Yet it is not over the top or too quirky. I really loved everything from the blue chevron carpet in the sunroom to the light fixtures in the dining hall.
For a wedding, all you would need to do is bring in flowers to add your own style and you would be ready for a beautiful celebration.
3. The Food
Many couples pick wine country to get married in because food is important to them. If that is you, then you must check out The Stavrand. Everything we ate was delicious. Even the biggest food critic in our group loved every meal. I also really appreciated that they do an excellent job of accommodating dietary restrictions.
Bonus: The incredibly nice staff
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredibly kind staff. Everyone we interacted with from the maintenance man who showed my friend how to turn on her shower, to the front desk lady that checked us in, to the owner that was serving wine at the wine hour, every interaction was extremely pleasant.
The wedding week can be stressful and a bit overwhelming for you and your guests, so having hotel staff that is kind and patient is essential.
Five stars all around for our stay at The Stavrand. It’s perfect for a girl’s trip, a couples trip or, of course, a wedding!
